Description: Part-time work marketing a sports-based web site in and
around Chicago area for the spring and summer. The candidate will be
involved in planning and implementing a guerilla marketing campaign. Tasks will
include going to sporting events to promote the web site among attendees,
visiting sports-oriented stores such as bike shops to promote the internet-based
service among the employees, and working with sporting clubs to increase
awareness of the service and build alliances. This is an ideal job for a
student. Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week including some
weekends in order to attend sporting events. This position could be extended
beyond the summer.
Qualifications: Ideal candidate must have an interest in sports and actively
participate in sports. Equally important is a familiarity with and access to the
internet. This is not a highly structured job, so candidate must be
self-motivated and able to work with a minimum of guidance. Also, candidate must
have obtained or currently be pursuing a college degree. Marketing, promotion or
sales experience is desirable.
About Us: GLOMNET, LLC owns and operates buddyup.com, an internet based
service that arranges sporting and recreational activities among and between its
members. Buddyup.com went live at the end of March 2000 and is trying to quickly
build its membership base in Chicago and the surrounding area. It is currently
engaged in an extensive advertising campaign and needs to compliment this
marketing with a direct approach for which the Marketing Associate will be
responsible.
Compensation: The employee will be paid $15-20 per hour depending on
experience and qualifications. Also, a bonus will be paid by the end of October
based on the effectiveness of the campaign through September. If the goal of 500
incremental active members is obtained, this bonus could be as much as $2,500.
