There are three ways to advertise on buddyup.com: 1. page view, 2. listing by sport, and 3. reference in email. A brief description and the rates for each follow.
Page View Advertising
Most of the member pages contain tile ads. A few pages have banner ads. Whenever a member logs in to buddyup.com, they are directed to their personal home page. This page contains only one tile advertisement and costs $12 per 1,000 page views. Other pages contain up to 4 tile ads and one banner ad. A tile ad on one of these other pages is $6 per 1,000 page views and the banner ad is $8. A minimum of $100 of advertising must be purchased per month. (Specifications for a tile ad are a maximum size of 125 x 125 and less than 10k. Banner ads must be no larger than 468 x 60 and less than 12k.)
Sport Listings
When a user is looking to buddy-up with another member, the process starts with a search. The searches are limited to other members in a region (i.e. Los Angeles) and involve one or more sports (i.e. inline skating). The search page then lists up to 50 members that fit the search criteria. As a new feature to be introduced, a listing of up to 5 sponsors for a sport in each region will be shown at the top of the search page. The member can then click on the link and bring up detail of the sponsor. These links are great for trainers, coaches, and local merchants. For instance, if you are a scuba instructor or sell scuba gear, you can buy a listing and every time someone in a given region like Los Angeles searches for a scuba diving buddy, your link will appear. The cost of a listing is $100 per year.
Email Text Reference
Buddyup.com allows members to send internal messages to each other. When a message arrives, an email is automatically generated and sent to the member alerting them to the message. Invitations to participate in a sport are also managed on the site with email alerts sent to the members when an invitation arrives or is changed. Each email alert can contain one text based advertisement. The rate for advertising is $2 for each 1,000 email messages sent. A minimum of $100 of advertising must be purchased.
These rates and terms are effective January 1, 2001 and subject to change.
